This debut from New York's Tranquilatwist takes the listener on a journey into gothic trip-hop. Lyrically dark and melancholic the album tracks often build from haunting down-tempo electronica into rock-electronica crescendos. Influenced by trip-hop, new wave and industrial acts you can draw comparison at times to Portishead, Cocteau Twins or Curve then occasionally throw it in the blender with some Latin horns and ethnic percussion. The artwork for the cd contains an amazing caricature of lead singer Karly by gothic artist Abril Andrade http://www.abrilandrade.com/ whose unique style is worth investigating on it's own. I'll give this cd 7 1/2 out of 10.
